Unity in the body of Christ - The Body of Christ Week 10
In this teaching we dive into the understanding of Unity in the body of Christ. Unity in the body of Christ does not mean, how well do we all get along. Rather, there is deep, spiritual significance to unity in the body that genuinely moves the church in the direction of maturity. And like every element of the gospel, this principle of unity reveals Christ in us, and through us.
Recap Points
Scripture makes a contrast between 2 cities. One comes from earth to heaven. The other comes from heaven to earth. (Genesis 11:4) (Revelation 3:12)
A name sets an identity and provides a point of unity for those that share that name.
Unity in the body is not members of the body agreeing with each other. Unity in the body is the members of the body being united with the head of the body and taking on one name, which is Christ. (Ephesians 4:3 – 6 )
The gospel is not given to us so that we may correct each other. The gospel is given to us so that we may each be in unity with Christ, which is the head.
